Fresh from being playlisted on the award-winning BBC 6 Music and selected to be on Lufthansa Airline’s Sounds of Africa playlist, British Nigerian singer, songwriter and musician LÁNRE debuts the brand new music video for her latest single “Má Gbàgbé” which is taken from her critically acclaimed debut solo album Pen Voyage Chapter One: Singing for Change.
Already highlighted as a favourite among several tastemakers such as Uche Uchendu (TKIAP, BBC 1 Xtra) and Tom Robinson (BBC 6 Music), the Goz-i-am-produced “Má Gbàgbé” is an excellently-crafted Folk/Soul opus – laced with acoustic guitar and bass arrangements, lush percussions and powerful lyrics – that is set to capture the hearts and minds of many African listeners and critics alike.
Shot and directed by Olan Collardy with a fine and emotive display from Lánre who is in glorious form as she performs a rousing rendition of “Má Gbàgbé” with her acoustic guitar, the beautifully-crafted music video superbly captures the poignant and reflective nature of the excellent traveller’s song and sees Lánre pay homage to a lesson she learnt from her grandfather of “the importance of staying true to your core values and who you are regardless of where you find yourself”
